Progress update
Client
SRI-CONNECT is the immediate client for this research. However, we are working on behalf of The Finance Hub of the Gordon and Betty Foundations to increase the flow of investment research that addresses sustainability issues specifically related to the Moore Foundation's Conservation and Markets Initiative.
Subject of research
SRI-CONNECT is commissioning investment research on tropical deforestation, marine depletion and broader investable themes around sustainable agriculture, biodiversity and natural capital.
We are looking for research that:
- Shows a fundamental understanding of the business drivers behind the sectors, issues and stocks covered
- Culminates in an investable thesis
- Is presentable to, usable by and stand up to scrutiny from equity or fixed income investors
Notably, we are not interested in broad thematic 'impact on the environment' pieces without investable conclusions
Providers
- The RFP is open to all providers. However, we will prioritise research undertaken by, or in close collaboration with, 'mainstream' financial research institutions.
(Rationale: The extent to which the impact of these issues can be communicated to 'mainstream investor' will ultimately determine how much power capital markets can have on delivering or impeding the achievement of sustainability in agriculture, forestry and marine systems.)
Selection process
- We will assess the first phase of proposals in January 2020 and expect to be confirming commissions by the end of the year.
- Dependent on the number (and quality) of research proposals received at this stage, there may be a second round of commissioning in March 2021.
Tender specifics
- Each proposal should have a specific research idea
- Research providers are invited to send short (4 page max) research proposals including elements that can be found in the linked document below
- Research providers are welcome to send as many separate proposals as they like
Closing date for application
- Proposals should be sent to
