Connections
The ‘Connections’ function enables users to expand their network within SRI and to select whose news they receive via their ‘Market Buzz’ feed.
(Unlike other social network sites, being ‘connected’ does not affect how much of a user’s profile you can see or whether you can message them. These are controlled by your respective membership levels.)
Who can make 'connections'?
Browsers cannot make connections.
Registered users and subscribed members can make connections.
With whom can I connect?
Registered users can connect with other registered users.
They cannot connect with individuals that only have 'placeholder profiles'.
(Placeholder profiles identify individual SRI market participants and the organisations that they work for. They are included on SRI-CONNECT to give a complete picture of the SRI market and each organisation's SRI-related capabilities. However, they do not contain any personal or contact information about those individuals. Accordingly, such individuals cannot be 'connected' with.)
What is the difference between ‘Connections’ and ‘Follows’?
- You 'Connect' with an individual – and need to be accepted by them
- You ‘Follow’ an organisation – but do not need to be ‘accepted’
- When you 'follow' a company (by which we mean a listed company) you will receive:
- all work (reports, research, invitations etc.) BY them (i.e. that they author) and,
- all work ABOUT them (i.e. authored by others)
- When you ‘follow’ any other sort of organisation (e.g. asset owner, SRI agencies etc.) you:
- will only receive work BY them
- It is not possible to receive work ABOUT other organisations
What are 'placeholder profiles'?
'Placeholder profiles' identify individual SRI market participants and the organisations that they work for. They are included on SRI-CONNECT to give a complete picture of the SRI market and each organisation's SRI-related capabilities.
However, they do not contain any personal or contact information about those individuals.
